Own who you ARE…

I’ve been noticing a tendency for people to “modestly deny” what they bring to the world, and I’m here to tell ya to “CUT IT OUT!”

OK, let’s consider what’s up with this. You tell me that you don’t want to appear to be immodest, or conceited, or full of yourselves… (sound like any Saboteurs you know?) but consider the outcome of this self-minimizing behavior. By not owning who you are, and what you bring into the world, how can you possibly share those gifts with the rest of us? Don’t you think this might be a little selfish of you? Ah-ha! Never thought of that, did ya?

When you deny the value and the beauty that you bring, you effectively withhold your gifts and therefore your full contribution to the world.

Hmmm… Is that who you want to be? I know that’s not what you intend. You want to make a difference, but diminishing who you are is a dead end.

When you stop to think about it, have you met a single person in your travels who did not have at least one contribution to make? (Even if that perceived contribution reminds you of who you don’t want to be.) When we respond to the world from our strengths, from the place of owning, and knowing and loving who we are, by and large, the world meets us in that same authentic place. It’s when we show up trying to be someone else that we run into others who are also showing up inauthentically, and as they say, “let the games begin!” Denying who we are only brings more of that into our lives.

When you know and accept and in fact rejoice in the gifts you get to share with the world and the world gets to share with you, you can begin to find your unique message, who you are and the “piece of the puzzle” that you contribute to the whole. As long as we continue to be self-diminishing we can never make any significant changes in this world that so badly needs our love. It starts with each one of us acknowledging, loving and appreciating who we ARE.

What do you think? I’d love to hear from you!

Always infinite possibilities… always your choice.
